MUSIC SHEETS - The Lumineers

A few posts ago, I revealed to everyone (or at least those who have read it) how music is a big part of my life. So hence this music post. I remember my first article for the school paper of my high school was to feature a band not yet known to many but definitely has good music. So I wrote about Switchfoot which at that time wasn't as famous. In this post, I'll be doing the same thing, writing about a band not yet popular on the mainstream but definitely has good music. Hence, I give you The Lumineers.

The Lumineers

The Lumineers is a Colorado-based folk song band composed of Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites and Neyla Pekarek.  The band started in 2005 playing in different small venues and recording in Fraites's attic. Onto Entertainers Management saw a video of their then future hit "Ho Hey" and decided to make a deal with the band. They fronted the band money to record a full length album in Seattle.

Their first song "Ho Hey" debuted at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart then later peaking at the number 3 spot. The song also was a hit in other music charts such as the Alternative Radio Chart where it stayed at the top spot for two weeks and the US Hot AC airplay chart. By December of 2012, the band's first song sold more than 2 million copies, making it their first double platinum. "Ho Hey" is also a hit in other countries. It was also #1 on the Canadian Alternative radio chart and #8 in the United Kingdom. Currently, "Ho Hey" is the #12 top single in the world.

The Lumineers has really been successful. From playing in small venues to sold out tours and concerts all over the world. In fact, it has been reported that their concerts have been sold out within hours. Also, all of their shows this February, from Pittsburgh to Manchester, to Bristol, are all sold out! Proof, that they are now making headlines in the music industry. The Lumineers will also be playing at Coachella this April.

Last December, The Lumineers also received Grammy Nominations for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album for their self titled album "The Lumineers."
