CELEBRITY SPOTLIGHT - Sam Claflin

It's been a while since the spotlight has shone for a celebrity here on the blog but no worries. Our spotlight isn't dim, just finding the right celebrity to cast its light on.

Anyway, I've been meaning to write about this actor for the longest time. And I thought I already. I could not believe that I still haven't done it. But well, there's always time to do it and what better time to do it than now (He's part of the biggest movie of the season!). So let us not wait any further and watch the light shine upon Sam Claflin

Sam Claflin is an English actor most known for his role as Philip, the young seminarian in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Sam was born in Ipswich, Suffolk to a finance manager father and a classroom assistant mother. He is the third of four brothers. His youngest brother Joseph is also an actor. Sam took up Performing Arts in Norwich City College in UK before attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Sam made his TV debut by the miniseries Pillars of The Earth as Richard of Kingsbridge. The brother of the lead character Aliena played by Hayley Atwell. Aliena is the love interest of the main character Jack played by (another Celebrity Spotlight artist) Eddie Redmayne.

Sam Claflin also played William in the Rupert Sanders' retelling of the classic fairy tale Snow White. One of dwarves in Snow White and the Huntsmen was Ian Mcshane who is also Sam's costar in Pillars of The Earth.

It seems that Sam has a penchant for movies set in the middle ages. Yes most of his big budget movies are in that period but he also had movies and TV series that were set in the more modern world. He also starred as the young Logan Mountstuart with Hayley Atwell and Matthew Mcfadyen, both of which are his co-stars in Pillars of The Earth (there seems to be a pattern here).

This year, we will see a new Sam Claflin as he portray the charming victor from District Four, Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Finnick is a pivotal character in the trilogy as he was a helpful hand for Katniss and Peeta and the rebellion.

Sam Claflin may have been playing second fiddle characters in all his works. But Catching Fire is one of the biggest movies of this year and probably Sam's biggest movie yet. If he plays his cards right, he might become a household name and possibly one of the biggest stars. With his megawatt smile and acting chops. it will not be long before someone from Hollywood notices him and gives him his biggest break.

Will Catching Fire set Sam Claflin's carrer ablaze? Whatcha think? Post your comments below or on twitter @iamthebluedevil
